Our dentist at will check the condition of each tooth, thoroughly check your gums, bone tissue, and your jaw. Dental x-rays may be used to help in detecting any oral health issues.
Checking Your Gums
During the dental exam, the dentist checks the gums so as to detect any issue with the gums. Early signs of gum disease can be reversed. If it advances on to the later stages of periodontitis, it cannot be cured, only treated. Detecting gingivitis will help the dentist come up with appropriate treatment options for you and this will help maintain healthy gums. Examining Your Teeth for Damage
During your dental exam, our dentist and hygienist will check your teeth for chips and cracks. These can cause pain, sensitivity, and discomfort. The dentist will check if you have existing fillings and will analyze them, and at the same time check if you are at risk of developing cavities. The dentist will identify whether you need restorative or preventive treatments by doing a tooth by tooth exam.
Aesthetic Evaluation
The dentist will do an examination to evaluate any cosmetic dentistry treatments that you might need if you have any missing teeth. If you have stained teeth the dentist may recommend a whitening procedure and will even determine if you need corrective treatment for misaligned or crooked teeth. Oral Cancer Screening
This is an important part of your dental exam that the dentist should always perform. With the rising number of cancer cases globally, having an oral cancer screening during your regular dental exam help us keep an eye on your oral health. If you have oral cancer the dentist is likely to see red or white spots in the oral cavity, or lumps in your mouth. You may have sores that bleed easily, pain and numbness in the mouth, and you may have difficulty swallowing and chewing.
